"We were contacted by Dee from National Safety Training Centre back in April to see if we would be interested in taking up the opportunity of some free fork lift training for our employees along with an NVQ qualification which would be relevant to the work that they currently did. Dee came down to our factory the following week and we were amazed by the package that they could offer us which would cost us a business nothing."GRP Building Solutions

Jack was delighted to be offered the opportunity to prove himself at Tilsons Scaffolding in Hull.
Jack told us -
“Well before I started at National Safety Training I was unemployed also I had no qualifications. Then I started at National, I learnt a lot from the course. I succeeded in getting different qualifications. The staff were really good as I fell behind on the course, but they stood me up and helped me to catch up and pass. I now have a job at Tilson Scaffolding which National found for me. Since then I have been to work away and am more successful in life thanks to National”.
Jacks Supervisor at Tilsons Scaffolding in Hull said “Jack is a very hardworking young man. I can now leave the yard and know that it is in good hands. He has only been here for a short time and already he knows more than those here before him.”
Since starting at Tilsons, Jack has been able to earn money to go on holiday, which he was very happy about. He has also been entrusted to work on different sites alone including being sent to Newcastle for 16 days. He said he enjoyed this because he was put up in a nice hotel. Jack has also been the envy of some of his friends who have also signed up to attend the programme in the hopes of gaining employment like jack.
Onwards and upwards Jack! Well Done!
Danny joined the Talent Match program back in January 2015.
Danny had been out of work for over 12 months. He is the head of a young family and wanted to build a better future for his child, partner and himself. He felt stuck in a rut and frustrated with the situation he found himself in. He found that the situation lead to him feeling de-motivated, which he knew in his head was not good and the wrong way to think of things.
Danny engaged well into the programme and made some new friends with fellow beneficiaries. He balanced his attendance to the program whilst working around looking after his child whilst his partner was studying at college. He found it a struggle at times. He was offered finding funded childcare but he said he was currently using the free nursery place available to him.
During his time Danny achieved the following qualifications –
Edexcel Warehouse and Storage Level 1
RTITB Counterbalance FLT Operators Licence
IOSH Working Safely.
Danny then discussed with the NSTS Team, he would like to go on a work experience placement. So Danny, attended an interview at GRP Building Solutions Ltd. The interview went well, and Danny started his 4 week work experience placement. During the work experience, Danny proved himself to be an asset to the company. So they discussed offering Danny the opportunity to continue with them, when the work experience period ended on an adult apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage L2.
Danny is currently still with GRP Building Solutions Limited, completing his apprenticeship and learning new skills along the way, with the NSTS apprenticeship team whilst providing for his young family and gaining back his independence and the ability to stand on his own feet.

With our support, the aim is to help 1200 (80%) young people to improve their ability to cope with long-term unemployment, develop greater self-confidence, and increase their sense of optimism about the future.
As part of this unique Humber Talent Match program NSTS will be hosting an initial ice breaker day out with the team at NSTS and an end of course celebration. They are in talks with a couple of local employers to secure vital work experience for our young people and we are keen to hear from more employers who could provide any places for up to 3-4 weeks work experience for our young people”.
