National Safety Training Services delivers ITSSAR & RTITB Accredited Lift truck training and Plant Training, JAUPT accredited Driver CPC training, ITC accredited First aid courses, IOSH accredited Courses. As well as a full range of NVQ's & Logistics Apprenticeships locally in Hull and throughout the UK.


With a team of permanent professional trainers in Hull and around the UK, and a diverse range of expertise in training lift truck & Plant operators who are employed or seeking employment within the Logistics, Ports, Warehousing, Manufacturing, Construction & Waste Management industry.


This year National Safety Training Services has won contracts to deliver training for several companies at the docks in Hull & Goole. This has lead to National Safety Training Services applying for ITSSAR (Independent Training Standards Scheme Register) training centre accreditation.

Following a successful inspection visit earlier this year, National Safety Training Services are now a fully accredited ITSSAR training centre for Both Operators & Instructors.

National Safety Training Services are also now Matrix Accredited for IAG. The Matrix Standard is the unique quality standard for organisations to asses and measure their advice and support services, which ultimately supports individuals in their choice of career, learning, work and life goals.
Recent additions to National Safety Training Services Fundable course portfolio includes;
• 1 Day First Aid Courses
• 1 day Abrasive Wheels workshops
• IOSH working safely 1 day courses.

National Safety Training Services has also; “Won the Humber Talent Match Contract”.

The vision is that; over a 5 year period “Talent Match Humber” will support 1,500 young people with multiple needs, aged 18-24, who are long-term unemployed, or economically inactive. The aim to get 330 (22%) into sustained jobs or self-employment and 450 (30%) into apprenticeships or further learning / training. With our support, the aim is to help 1200 (80%) young people to improve their ability to cope with long-term unemployment, develop greater self-confidence, and increase their sense of optimism about the future.

As part of this unique Humber Talent Match program NSTS will be hosting an initial ice breaker day out with the team at NSTS and an end of course celebration. They are in talks with a couple of local employers to secure vital work experience for our young people and we are keen to hear from more employers who could provide any places for up to 3-4 weeks work experience for our young people”. The work experience will only take place once the young people are fully qualified and ‘work ready’. This work experience has already started and the initial feedback has been very successful.

The ultimate aim of this initiative is to get all of these young people into Jobs. Along with FREE IOSH, Forklift & Warehousing courses National Safety Training Services, continue to go from strength to strength.

From 1st July 2014 the green Construction Site Operative (CSO) card will no longer be issued.  There will be a new green CSCS card available for people who are working in a labouring occupation.

Those wanting to apply for the new Green Construction Site Operative Card will be required to achieve a Level 1 Health and Safety in a Construction Environment qualification. This Health & Safety qualification is designed to improve safe working practices on construction sites around the UK. This includes both those who are new to the construction industry as well as those who are renewing their card.

What do I need to do?

The best way for those working in a labouring occupation to qualify for the new Green Labourer Card is to complete EAL’s new Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in a Construction Environment.

National Safety Training Services are an accredited EAL training centre, already approved to deliver this Level 1 Health & Safety in a Construction Environment

Mike Wood case study & Background:

 

Mike Wood age 30 from Hull, was looking for a new opportunity away from retail, and always wanted to be an instructor in the forklift industry . The opportunity came when Mike heard of National Safety Training Services in Hull, from a friend who had recently undertaken a level 2 NVQ training course, in Warehousing. The course amongst others was provided through the expert training providers at National Safety Training Services in Hull.

 

In July 2013, Mike enquired by calling in person at National Safety Training Services, office – where he met Ashley and Rhonda Shaw (Directors and Owners of NSTS). Mike quickly enrolled onto the employability skills program, consisting of an NVQ in Warehouse  & Storage Skills and a BTEC L2 in Plant operations which commenced in September 2013. Mike enjoyed his experience so much that he quickly booked himself on the RTITB Accredited Lift Truck Instructor 10 day course January 6th 2014 by. On 16th  January 2014 I completed the course and became a fully accredited; RTITB – Lift Truck Operator Instructor.

 

Mike says; “At  the end of the course I was approached by Ashley and Rhonda Shaw of National Safety Training Services, who offered me the position as a Forklift Operator Instructor”. “I spent 10 days shadowing Ashley Shaw, throughout his classes (who is an Instructor himself), at the end of the trial period, in March  2014,  I joined the team at National Safety Training Services – RTITB Lift Truck Instructor”. Ashley  has  continued  to encourage me to take further courses with them”.

Recent   Developments   with   Mike – Mike has almost completed his L4 PTLLS (preparing to teach in the life- long learning sector). Mike has also enrolled onto his Assessors qualification and by September 2014, he will be further qualified to deliver & assess NVQ qualifications in Warehousing & Storage as well as plant operations.

Today National Safety Training Services welcomed an inspection by an ITSSAR monitor to become an ITSSAR training centre.

The inspection went very well and we passed this inspection 1st time! We are now a fully accredited ITSSAR operator & Instructor Training centre. We are pleased to say that with immediate effect we have the following classes available, B1, B2 & B3. Other course categories are to be announced later this month!!
