Course Duration: 10 Days
Course Detail
The course is designed to provide course members with the information, instruction, training and supervised practise necessary to enable a trained, tested, certified and experienced lift truck operator to meet the minimum standards required for registration as a lift truck instructor by RTITB Ltd. It will also enable course members to meet the minimum requirements for the lift truck instructors as listed in the HSE Approved Code of Practise – Rider Operated Lift Trucks – Operator training (L117) or equivalent national statuary requirements.
Course members who successfully complete the end-of-course examinations will be eligible to apply for registration with RTITB Ltd as a registered instructor for a period of 5 years from the date of the successful examination.
Course members will have little or no experience of instructing, but will be required to train, test and certificate new or existing operators to a recognised standard. They should be selected with due regard for the responsibility of the task involved. In addition they should be presentable, articulate, enthusiastic and able to work on their own initiative.
Prior to the start of the course, course members should have had a minimum of six months’ industrial experience of operating the relevant type(s) of lift truck and must meet the eligibility criteria described in the RTITB Ltd Lift Truck Instructor Registration Examination, Requirements and Standards. They must provide satisfactory documentary
evidence that they have been trained, tested and certified as lift truck operators and have recent sufficient experience to allow them to undertake the test of basic operating skills to instructor standard (no more than 25 points).
They should be reasonably fit and mature and able to satisfy the medical requirements laid down by the Employment Medical Advisory Service, and published in HSG6 ‘Safety in Working with Lift Trucks’, as revised in November 2000, or equivalent national guidance or requirements.
